Children who know their value, importance and destiny, making right decisions and as a result will live pure, purposeful and passionate lives as adults – this is our vision.

Lighthouse Children’s Ministry was legally registered as Lighthouse Project by Urs and Esther Buff, founders of the ministry. Currently Urs Buff is the executive director and team leader of long and short term staff members of different nationalities.

Meanwhile three branches have developed out of many evangelistic outreaches in Soshanguve, Ten Room and Soweto.

Gideon and Sosi Thobane from Soweto

Gideon and Sosi Thobane are situated in Soweto as branch leaders. Outreaches into public schools and creches are on their program. During holidays they are eager to organise camps for children and youth. Gideon is gifted to use costumes to attract the attention of the little ones. In March 2022 the couple started also a day care centre.

Lerato Mashimbye from Soshanguve

Lerato Mashimbye is the branch leader in Soshanguve. She oversees more than four children clubs during the week and is going out nearly every day to visit families, teenager and/or children. Her great passion is to help traumatised youth and adults.

Dijeng

The branch leader of Ten Room is Dijeng. She oversees a club in Ten Room itself and another one opposite the main road in Afsaal. She trains a bunch of young people to reach out to the needy ones of our societies. In Januar 2023 Dijeng and her Team started a new day care centre in Ten Room.

We offer training in Child Evangelism, Trauma counselling and Basic Bible Knowledge for Teenager. During holidays we offer camps for children and teenager.

Our strategy

  • We want to meet the basic needs where ever they are (e.g. children clubs, schools, pre-schools, daycare centre)

  • We want to enable children to get out of their every day environment on a short-term basis (Camps) and if necessary also on a long-term basis providing permanent structures for destitute children.

  • We offer to train churches, parents and individuals to fulfill their God given responsibilites to train children while they are young.
